Wheelchair Accessible Vans installs hand controls into our handicap vehicles, which are designed to allow the driver to manipulate the brake and gas pedals with a lever that is mounted below the steering wheel.

We offer a variety of hand controls that operate in slightly different manners. Therefore, we encourage you to test each type to find the one that works best for you before having it installed into your handicap vehicle.

The hand control systems installed by Wheelchair Accessible Vans are user friendly by design. They are easy and safe to operate, and do not hinder driving. The best part is that a standard driver does not have to make an adjustment to drive the vehicle. Pricing starting at $950. The following hand control options are available:

Push/right angle style: To brake, push the handle upward. To accelerate push downward and to the right. Persons with limited finger dexterity can operate this particular hand control.
Push/pull style: To brake, push forward on the handle. To accelerate, pull it backwards. Persons with limited finger dexterity can operate this control. A three-post hand interface can be installed which allows the user to maintain constant contact with the handle.
Push/rock style: To brake, push the handle forward. To accelerate, rock it back. Persons with no finger dexterity can operate this type of hand control.
Push/rotate style: To brake, push the handle forward. To accelerate, twist. Full or limited finger function is required to operate this control.
